Casio Note Fix |
By Jim Wintringham I thought there might be some interest in the note layout. I had a note go silent, and decided to try a repair. I think the actual trouble was a dirty contact, on my key board. Here are some pictures of the insides of the keyboard. I made my repair, by wiping down the contacts and plunger. with a contact cleaner (like for a tape recorder head). This is an over-view of the keys. The ‘white strips’ are of rubber, with a carbon like tip (2 for each note....for the ‘touch setting’). The green board is the contact field for each note. There are 12 screws to remove for each of the 2 green board sections, and the outside edge of the green board slips under a row of clips (marked by a white dot) .
Here is a close up of the contact field, the carbon plunger completes the circuit to sound the note:
This is a close up of the striker. The key just hits the rubber striker that extends into the bottom of the note. The rubber strip is just held in loosely, by the plungers.
