| Formatting the Smartmedia memory card | ||
I can give you the steps to How I got my card to work: 1. Put the card into the Casio SmartMedia slot. 2. Press the 'Card' button on the Casio...it initializes...then the display screen should read 'CrdLoad'. 3. Press the right cursor button.. until you see the 'CrdFormat' display. 4. Press the down cursor button...you will see a 'CrdSure?' display. Answer 'yes'. The Casio will then format the card, and place a folder on the card called 'Casio_MD' 5. The Casio will only look for files that are directly (no sub folders) in the 'Casio_MD' folder...that is where you would place all your files. 6. The only files that can be directly loaded from the computer to the SmartMedia card, are 'midi type 0' song files. Casio can't read 'midi1' files (most common)...they must be converted to the 'midi0', to be loadable. 7. All other files must be loaded on the SmartMedia card using the Casio Data Management software http://music.casio.com/e/data_ex2/ This software converts the 'ckf' files to a 'Z0x' format, when loading the SmartMedia card...so you end up with 'Z0x' files. These are the 'true' Casio files...the ones the Casio looks for. It can't use the 'ckf' files directly. I have used the Casio program to 'load' my card...then, saved the 'z0x' files back to the computer (directly from the SmartMedia card. I then 'wiped' the card...loaded it with more files, and repeated the process. I now have all (or most) of the ckf files, also saved to my computer as z0x files. So, now I can load the files (Z0x) directly from the computer to the SmartMedia card (placing them in the 'Casio_MD' folder. It sure seems like Casio gave us some 'extra hoops' to jump thru to load the Card directly! |
