How to play with a split keyboard while using the SMF player
A split tone with waves like wkpnosax.Z06 (can be used to split the keyboard when playing SMF) You can copy this file directly to your PC floppy or Smartcard reader/writer (if you have one) without using the Casio software.
1- Download the wkpnosax.Z06 file into your floppy or Smartcard (if you have a Smartcard reader/writer attached to your PC). Put the floppy or card in your WK or CTK-691 keyboard and use the DISK/CARD button to load the file to the keyboard's internal memory (be patient this puppy takes around 5 minutes to load into your 3000/3500/691 if you use the floppy, less than 2 minutes if you use Smartcard) to one of the Tone with Waves locations starting at 700. We have the 3000/3500/691 manual "on-line" at the HELP page in case that you don't remember how to load a SMF or Tone with wave into your keyboard.
2- Press the "SMF Player" button. Load your midi file. Press the "Start button".
3- While the file is playing, press the large white "Tone" button and enter the user preset where you loaded the "pianosax1" tone. If the large blue DSP button lights up, just press it to turn it off. I think the pianosax1 tone sounds better without effects.
4- Wow! Now you can play a split tone along with your midi file! The manual says that you can not use the "normal" split button while playing a MIDI file.
5- Step 3 may be by-passed (haven't tried it) if you assign the preset you used to store the pianosax1 tone to midi channel 1 using your favorite sequencing software. Maybe we can get one of you guys to experiment with this!
